Sports Night was a short-lived sitcom aired on ABC from 1998-2000. As a major fan of sports, it quickly became one of my shows. To my great joy, I received the entire series on DVD as a gift a few years ago. I think I have watched the entire series about 6 times in the past three years. As you can see from my photo, I have spent a lot of time feeding babies in that time span, and Sports Night has been a favored method to help pass the time.
Recently, an episode really connected with my sensibilities. One of the stars of Sports Night, Casey McCall, is invited to appear on a morning talk show. When the hostess compliments him on his impeccable attire, he politely thanks her and they move on to other topics. Later in the episode, back on the set of Sports Night, Casey is approached by a woman who asks, “What’s my name?” All he can muster in response is that she works for wardrobe. She sternly reprimands him for not knowing her name despite the fact that she and a few others make him look great. She goes on to explain that it would have meant a lot to the wardrobe department for him to have mentioned them on national TV.
With that in mind, I’d like to publicly recognize some people that work behind the scenes at Columbia Business Times. They help me generate ideas, create ads and often put me in the position of earning praise despite little effort on my part.
Alisha Moreland is our Art Director. She is a sweet lady with great passion for doing the job right. She has the unique ability to see what is in my mind and translate it to an ad on paper. I wish I had a sliver of her creative talent!
Cody Moore, who recently left the Business Times Company, was a pleasure to work with. She is a talented artist and created several ads that I have placed in my “Hall of Fame” ad book. She is gone from here, but not forgotten.
Sarah Handelman is our new graphic designer. Despite being here for just a few weeks, we have already connected and she is creating some excitingly fresh, new ad designs. She is also one of the most polite people I have met in recent years. I predict she will make a big impact on our publications very soon!
Betsy Bell is a fellow salesperson. She is a trusted confidante and great source for helping me connect with our female audience. Betsy recently joined our sales staff and this has given me the opportunity to share some of my knowledge and experiences with her. This has helped me get back to basics and focus on doing things in the correct manner. She is a kind, caring soul and is going to be an awesome mother in a very short amount of time!
Cindy Sheridan is our Operations Manager. She keeps me in line and makes sure I turn in the appropriate forms in order to get ads placed in our publications. On more than a few occasions, Cindy has rescued me from my own goof ups. I’m glad she is my side because I know she will get the job done correctly.
Jennifer Kettler is our staff photographer. She has a knack for seeing things in the right perspective and then capturing it in a photograph. In addition, Jennifer has some serious skills as a writer that I hope she chooses to explore more.
Thanks ladies! I think it’s quite obvious I couldn’t do my job without you. I appreciate your efforts very much!

Thanks Joe! It was a pleasure working with you as well! You are quite the mover and shaker when it comes to selling ads and we couldn’t have done some of the great work that we did without your skills!
Thank you, Cody! BTW, I should have posted a link to your website in the original comments, so I will do it here:

It is refreshing to hear someone mention the team that helps them get the job done.
Well done,
Sue
Thanks for the kind comment Sue. And thanks for reading the CBT Blogs!
