I recently read a post on a real estate forum to which I subscribe and felt a need to share the thought with our readers on the CBT Blog Page. Thank you to Alice Leeper of Re/Max Boone Realty for bringing it back to my attention. You would be well advised to heed her advice.
To summarize the content of her post, it advises to check your business name out on sites such as www.yelp.com and other places where customers can post comments about a business. As Alice noted, “It’s extremely easy to flame (post a negative comment about) someone anonymously.” It would be a shame to lose business because someone “googled” your name and all they found were unflattering comments.
Her brother, a local contractor, almost fell victim to this very occurrence. It seems he learned about a negative comment from a friend. Understandably outraged, he contacted and asked many of his satisfied customers to post positive feedback. He also addressed the negative comment personally. This bit of proactive brand management will definitely pay dividends in the future. While I cannot personally vouch for his work, this attention to detail about his reputation does suggest a caring & competent individual.
Another example involves my recent research into the background of a business in which I was considering making an investment. About 50% of the comments were negative, and it appeared to be a cultural issue that had went unaddressed by the national HQ. Needless to say, I have decided against giving them my business, as I don’t wish to be associated with their brand. I’m sure I am not the only one to have reached this same conclusion based on a simple Internet search.
Do you know what people are saying about you and your business on the Internet?
