With the Haitian earthquake still fresh in everyone’s mind…I’ve been impressed with how information to help the victims has been virtually everywhere. Tweets, Facebook posts, TV commercials…I even got a text from the former Obama campaign about texting a donation to the Red Cross. Using a viral campaign as a way to greatly bolster humanitarian efforts is just now coming to fruition. Never before has the world public been so easily connected without regard to location and proximity. While the world has been “shrinking” at an incredible rate, the boom in interconnected social media has shattered traditional barriers to connectivity. It’s also nice to see that online marketing can be used for something even bigger than the business world.
