*Correction: In a previous version of this post, I incorrectly reported the amount of in-kind contributions to Fourth Ward candidate Sarah Read. The correct amount is below.

OK, last week I posted a pretty incomplete campaign finance report for mayoral candidates Jerry Wade and Bob McDavid. Since then, I’ve managed to make the time to rummage through the finance reports at the County Clerk’s office. At the risk of succumbing to horserace election coverage, I’m putting up a fundraising summary as of the last week of February  for all you city politics junkies out there.

Some highlights:

Wade has named every donor giving to his campaign, which speaks to his meticulous nature. Candidates are not required to name donors giving under $100, but Wade has opted to do so. For a list of notable donors for Wade and McDavid, check out my old post.

Third Ward incumbent Karl Skala has backing from Historic Preservation Commission Chair Brian Treece. His opponent, Gary Kespohl, got money from local developer Stephen Wendling, whose son,  Scott Wendling,  is helping run his campaign.

Fourth Ward Candidate Sarah Read has received $731 from in-kind contributions from her own law firm.

Fourth Ward candidate Tracy Greever-Rice has also received support from Treece, as well as Visioning commissioners Jan Weaver and Dan Goldstein. Sixth Ward Councilwoman Barbara Hoppe also gave to her campaign.

Mayoral Candidates:

Bob McDavid

Raised: $6,080 (though he reportedly raised about $5,000 at a recent fundraiser). He got $1,530 from small donations under $100. Those donations don’t have to be itemized like the larger donations.

Spent: $320

Cash on hand: $5,759

Jerry Wade

Raised: $21,381

Spent: $7,745

Cash on hand: $12,559

Sid Sullivan–

Raised: $5,526, $1,430 from donations under $100.

Spent: $2,930

Cash on hand: $2,596

None of the other candidates, Paul Love, Sean O’day or Sal Nuccio, have filed fundraising reports. Candidates are not required to file unless they’ve received more than $500, spent more than $1,000 or received more than $325 from a single contributor.

Third Ward:

Karl Skala–

Raised: $7,132, $4,047 of which is from donors under $100.

Spent: $805

Cash on hand: $6,327

Gary Kespohl –

Raised: $4,869, $3,645 from donations under $100.

Spent: $1,117

Cash on hand: $3,751

Fourth Ward:

Sarah Read–

Raised: $5,745, $1,395 from donors giving less than $100.

Spent: $1,604

Cash on hand: $1,300

Tracy Greever-Rice–

Raised: $2,597, $1,271 from donors under $100

Spent: $329

Cash on hand: Not reported

Daryl Dudley–

Raised: $1,690. Small donations accounted for $1,490.

Rick Buford did not file any finance reports.

I am the Treasurer of Citizens for Sarah Read 4th Ward. Your statement, “Fourth Ward Candidate Sarah Read has received more than $4,300 from in-kind contributions from her own law firm,” is incorrect.

If you will review the two disclosure reports filed to date, you will see that in-kind contributions from Sarah Read’s law firm total only $731.73.

There were in-kind contributions of $1,000 apiece from Sarah Read’s daughters, Molly (campaign logo design work) and Anna (campaign materials design work), but neither Molly nor Anna donated these services as employees of Sarah’s law firm — rather, they were individual contributions of time and talent to their mother.

Even if one were to aggregate all the above-mentioned in-kind contributions for some reason, they still total only $2,731.73 — a far cry from your $4,300 figure.

That’s my bad. I accidentally added up the aggregate column rather than the contributions column. I apologize for the error.
