A New Era for Columbia Business Times

Today marks a significant moment in the history of Columbia Business Times. For the first time since its inception some 16 years ago, it is undergoing a major change in format, size, and shelf-life. We are sending it off to the printer, so everything is finally official!

As many of you have already learned, starting November 1st, the CBT will become a monthly magazine. Gone are the days of the tabloid-sized paper printed on newsprint and distributed every 2 weeks. We welcome in an era of a monthly magazine printed on glossy paper. While we have kept many of the features that have made CBT so popular, you will find many new departments, unique insights, and fresh ideas.

Alisha Moreland

While many people have played a large part in making this transition possible, I’d like to say a special “THANK YOU!” and “JOB WELL DONE!” to our Art Director, Alisha Moreland. I can’t even begin to tell you about all the tasks she took ownership of to get this redesign completed, but briefly she was instrumental in:

  • creating the new logo
  • developing the new layout/design
  • crafting new features
  • creating advertising specs/ideas and actual ads
  • completly overhauling the look of the 20 Under 40 Awards section
  • creating a complementary design for the new website that may accompany the new magazine

See, this still doesn’t do her efforts justice!

At the same time, she has an infant son, 8-year old daughter and a husband at home, and still found time to enlarge the scope of her annual “Pink Pumpkin Painting Party” to help raise funds to battle breast cancer.

In short, I think she’s a pretty amazing woman and I wanted you to know about her & how lucky I am to work with someone so talented!
